About MM Bicycles

In 2007 Michael van der Meijden together with partner Amber Chen took the bold step of setting up their own bicycle company in Taiwan. Together they formed MM Bicycles starting with a modest 7000sq foot factory and 6 employees building it up to the 46000 sq foot factory they have today.

Dutch founder Michael van der Meijden has a long history in the bicycle industry, helping to create one of the largest Dutch Bicycle distributors, Amazing Wheels. As well as building his own successful recumbent company, Optima Cycles, and bike shop Bike Planet, Michael has also creating the brands Dutch ID and Footbike, but perhaps the company closest to his heart is FirstBIKE, which helps thousands of children around the world take their first steps towards experiencing the joys of cycling.

Amber Chen packed away her career as an international sales rep, and traded her city life in her home town of Taipei for the industrial / agricultural skirts of Taichung City. She has studied Literature and English at Shin Hsin university in Taipei. Together with Michael, they form the heart of MM bicycles.
